Whiz Youth Project At last, we’re back in business. The work in and around the kitchen area is now complete, and we can commence with our much missed cookery sessions. Whiz provides a ‘safe’ space for young people in the community to have fun, meet their friends, join in various workshops, and obtain information and guidance. Check out what we did at half-term: http://whalleyrange.org/news_docs/WHIZ2.pdf
We are looking at providing volunteering, employment or training opportunities for the young people on the project, encouraging them to move from NEET to EET, and get involved in community issues that affect them and the community.
Tai/kick boxing - two nights per week (Tue/Thur), which is proving to be very popular. The number of young people attending has doubled in recent weeks, so we’re having to apply for more funding to facilitate this. We encourage young people to get more involved in sport and recreational activities.
Girls at Whiz – Come to our Open Day event on Sat 21st of March and see what we have on offer http://whalleyrange.org/news_docs/girls2.pdf We aim to provide a space to have fun and take part in leisure activities - trips, music and dance workshops. February half term was a great success with the young people from the Whiz Project. See attached portfolio of events.
