A free 8 week course will be held for women at JNR8 Youth & Community Centre on Mondays between 9.30-11.30am starting on January 18th 2010.
The course is supported by M16 Women’s group, Whalley Range Sure Start Children’s Centre and the Whalley Range Forum/Celebrate Taking Control of Your Life is an 8-week course with each session lasting 2 hours. The group size will be up to 12 learners.
This course has been developed to help support parents who may struggle with their own confidence or may be experiencing difficulties in their relationships with their children or others.
This course is designed to reach out to those who may be isolated, depressed, out of work and who may not have any qualifications. To access a free course, learners must have lived in the country for 3 years.
Please ask the tutor to explain the specific criteria for the course.
This is a positive, uplifting course that will give parents the tools to deal with conflict and difficult situations by empowering them with practical solutions and effective communication strategies using neuro-linguistic programming techniques.
The tutor will facilitate discussions and group activities with parents in a safe learning environment.
Learners are also given the opportunity to put strategies into practice at home.
Parents are their children’s role models, so it is essential that children learn ways to communicate effectively in order that they may establish positive relationships with their family, siblings, teachers and peers.
Once the parents have completed this course, they will be given every opportunity to progress onto other courses, e.g. language, literacy numeracy and IT.
Crèche facilities for up to 6 children are provided for this course; please call Chris on 0161 881 3744 to book a place.
